Summer Lookbook

2023

Autumn is almost here…

…but if you live in Melbourne, you know we’ve got at least a couple more scorchers on the way!

We worked with our resident winter grinch Ren and styled some outfits to see you through those end-of-summer heatwaves.

Ren wears: Private Member top, BLUEBLUE vest, P.A.M shorts, and Super Birkis from Mutual Muse

Ren (they/them) describes their style as eclectic and maybe a little erratic—as if a toddler, their avant-garde Mum, and their daggy Dad all shared the same wardrobe. Ren likens getting dressed in the morning to customising a video game character.

A self-proclaimed summer hater, they are eternally struggling to find outfits for 30+ degree days.

What do you wear when you feel like your body is melting away?

Ren doesn’t like to sweat.

But sometimes a mid-February day is nice. The alley pavement is hot, but perfect for roller-skating. The summer breeze is tender, instead of bone-cuttingly sharp.

Summer is a deep, soul-resetting nap after spending the day at the beach. Fennel and orange salad. Sitting on the boardwalk with friends, silent because everyone’s trying to finish their ice cream before it disappears into puddles on the ground. Languid, melting afternoons watching everything in slow-motion: the cyclist peddling uphill, the neighbours picnicking on the nature strip, water tracks left by sprinklers when they splash beyond the fence—where are they going?

We’ll probably miss being close when the weather gets colder. Reminisce about one of those “orange-coloured days”, like in the love letters from Amélie.

It’s not all bad.

But thank God—the cloudy, grey days are coming.

Each outfit comprises of a combination of the model’s own pieces, and stock from our shop floor.

Special thanks to our friends at Acapulco Social Club for letting us shoot in front of the shop with their plants!
